Barack Obama set for US President inauguration gala Which stars will be invited to Washington's biggest party?
It promises to be one of the biggest parties Washington has ever seen - but which stars will receive a sought-after invitation to Barack Obama's inauguration ceremony on January 20?
These stars can hope
for an invitation!
The British 'Times' newspaper reported that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has a guaranteed place on the guest list, as Obama reads her Harry Potter books to his daughters Sasha (seven) and Malia (ten).
There will also be several Hollywood stars present at the party.
George Clooney is apparently one of the new President’s best friends and actress Scarlett Johnansson had email correspondence with Barack Obama.
But it is not only Barack who decides who should celebrate with him – his wife Michelle will also have her say, and it is thought that actor Will Smith will be high on the list of celebrities the couple want at the gala.
The new First Lady will probably also want her friend Jennifer Aniston to be one of the party guests.
Morris Reid, who is helping to organise the official event, knows exactly why the stars will be happy to make the trip: “Number one: Obama is cool. He is truly the first pop culture president – the first to have a BlackBerry, get his music from his iPod and walk around with aviator Ray Bans.”
More than 500 guests will be at the inauguration ball in the US capital, including musicians Sting, Elvis Costello, Bono, Bruce Springsteen and Mary J. Blige.
